The Henley Royal Regatta

Henley Royal Regatta is one of the best known and most prestigious in the world. It is not only one of the highlights of the English sporting calendar, but also of the social season. It attracts thousands of visitors over the 5 days and spectators are treated to over 200 races of an international standard. Rowing aside, visitors can enjoy the special atmosphere and superb facilities within the enclosures.

Founded in 1839, the regatta is considered one of the highlights of any rower's career. The course itself is one mile 550 yards (2,112 metres) long, and runs from Temple Island towards Henley Bridge. The races are on a knock-out basis, with crews rowing two abreast over the course. Crews compete from all over the world, lending the event truly international flavour.
